Chiefly correspondence from Edwin G. Seibels re University of South Carolina reunions for the Class of 1885; Fitz Hugh McMaster re history of Mt. Zion Society, and James Henry Rice, Jr., re conservation of natural sites, philosophy, and history of South Carolina College and USC. Letters from James Henry Rice, Jr. include 19 Sept. 1930, re the mindset of S.C. residents in the past and present, and a noted expansion of enrollment at the University, attributed to August Kohn, "S.C. intellect functioned on four things only: Politics, Cotton, Horses, and Religion... football and the Ford car have usurped the place held by horses; and money has shoved religion aside.... Gus Kohn had a new [student admissions] policy adopted [at USC]... take in everybody... 'guskohning' of the institution gradually sent up the enrollment"; and letter, 21 June 1931, "Our State Game Department is permitting the destruction of wild life for revenue - a rash and unwise policy." Two bound volumes: register for the "Junior Class" of 25 students attending an unidentified school during 1910-1911 (student names include Boineau, Efird, Gignilliat, Mobley, Rast, etc.); and "Nonsense : Pure and Unadulterated," verse and prose by Dougal Bissell, a physician of New York, who produced multiple copies of this booklet at the time of the 50th class reunion, 4 June 1935: "With many happy memories of you Sabe Dunn, on this, our Golden Jubilee."
